Five public school districts and six private schools serve Door County. Door County students consistently score above average in state testing. In addition to the excellent public and private schools the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) serves the area. The local campus is located in Sturgeon Bay and classes are available in multiple locations throughout Door County and via the Internet. University of Wisconsin Green Bay is located approximately 40 miles south of Door County.

Door County is home to the nation’s oldest professional resident summer theater company, which performs in an outdoor amphitheater in Fish Creek. Picturesque communities, including Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Fish Creek, Gills Rock and Sister Bay, offer historic points of interest that reflect the area’s Scandinavian and other original ethnic settlers. Museums showcase the county’s rich maritime history, in particular the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay.
